The clouds have parted and the screen has been constructed. Gamenight returns to it’s rightful place, under the stars and out in the open this week for what is expected to be a record turnout.
Taking a few weeks off from the Tatsunoko VS Capcom bouts at the Viper Pit, Gamenight changes hands to the elegant Le Fantasy Zone - featuring 2 levels, a 200 foot outdoor screen and patio grounds.
We dust off the SNES & NES tonight for what can only be the closest reenactment to The Wizard that Fred Savage or Tobey McGuire have ever seen. Expect the NES World Championship cart and it’s angrier, prettier brother - the SNES Campus Challenge cart to make an appearance. An unknown gamer source has reported that money pots have exceeded the Gamenight record at a whopping $36,000. With this news, LFZ has escalated this event from “Danger Zone” to “Boss Rush.”
Due to the magnitude of these two titles and the still unconfirmed bounties for high score, other titles cannot be announced at the time. Sources say that Mike Tyson’s Punchout! is expected to make it’s debut at Le Fantasy Zone, being an exclusive to The Viper Pit (aka Smallville) for the last 4 years. Once we confirm it’s appearance, we will announce prize pots, which will likely cap at 14k.
Good luck to all entrants, and welcome to Le Fantasy Zone.
As you may or may not know - Team Hyperstick are big fans of Scroll Magazine and it’s founder, Ray Barnholt.
Looks like Ray is releasing some pretty awesome art works, inspired from classic games (and cheat codes). Sonic Beefcake is a personal favorite of mine.
All the prints are available in a variety of formats.
First look at Project X Zone, the crossover 3DS joint from Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai releasing in Japan later this year. The strategy RPG features characters from a variety of the companies’ franchises, including Mega Man, Space Channel 5, Tekken, Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry, Valkyria Chronicles, Street Fighter, etc.
Of course, the immediate comparison one probably makes after seeing/hearing all this is PS2’s Namco × Capcom mash-up, which never released outside of Japan. With all these characters, this game looks like something out of Card Sagas Wars, but I’m guessing the gameplay here is more along the lines of Super Robot Wars, a franchise that will also make an appearance in the game.
